This system consists of one layer of protection board on the bottom, followed by a layer of modified bitumen base sheet, and a cap sheet that uses asphalt granules to protect the roof system from the sun.

Two Ply Roofing Systems

Two ply roofing systems are systems that use two layers of a modified bitumen membrane to protect your building. They are generally secured to a protection board that is on top of the deck. 

The revolution in two ply systems now is the self adhering membrane. It allows installers to use limited heat in order to adhere the roofing products. This adds extra protection in high risk areas such as walls and doorways. 

They offer two ply systems for all different types of decks. For example, on concrete decks, or old wooden structures, you can ‘mop’ or use hot asphalt to adhere the base layer to the deck.  

You can then apply a torch applied cap sheet (top layer). Thus reducing the weight of the roof versus standard asphalt 4 ply systems and allowing for potentially easier repairs and replacements in the future.
