Challenge
The homeowner in North York reported an active leak in the top-left corner of the skylight. The glass and surrounding framing required resealing, and the area needed a focused skylight repair to prevent further water penetration.
In addition to the skylight issue, the roof had several loose shingles and one ripped shingle that required attention. The repair plan also called for removing four to five rows of shingles above the left skylight to perform a proper shingle repair and ensure the area was restored to watertight condition.
Safe roof access and full cleanup of all work-related debris were included as part of the service requirements.

Skylight Repair & Resealing
- Removed four rows of shingles at the back of the skylight to expose the roof deck
- Applied ice and water shield directly to the deck to provide a reinforced waterproof seal
- Installed new shingles over the repaired area
- Caulked the top of the skylight glass
- Caulked along both sides of the skylight
- Caulked the front section of the skylight to fully address all potential leak points
Shingle Repair
- Addressed loose shingles and the ripped shingle in the affected area
- Ensured that newly installed shingles tied into the existing roofline securely and cleanly
Worksite Safety & Cleanup
- Ensured safe access for workers throughout the repair process
- Completed full cleanup of all debris created during the repair
Result
The completed repairs resolved the leak at the skylight by reinforcing the entire surrounding area with new caulking, ice and water shield, and a fresh layer of shingles.
