Challenge
The homeowner required localized cedar roof repairs at both the back and front of the house. The scope of work focused on:
- The full length of the cedar hip at the back of the house
- A few individual cedar pieces at the back of the house
- One specific cedar piece at the front of the house
- The valley at the back dormer, which needed to be caulked
The objective was to address these defined areas so the roof’s cedar components and key transition points (such as the hip and dormer valley) were properly repaired and sealed.
Solution
Dominion Roofing carried out a series of targeted repairs based on the identified scope:
- Back hip replacement: The full length of the existing cedar hip at the back of the house was carefully removed. A new cedar hip was then installed along the same run to restore this key roof line.
- Cedar repairs at the back: While working at the rear elevation, the team repaired or replaced a few additional pieces of cedar at the back of the house, staying within the defined repair area.
- Cedar repair at the front: At the front of the house, one piece of cedar was repaired or replaced to address the localized issue in that section of the roof.
- Valley caulking at back dormer: The valley at the back dormer was caulked to ensure this junction was properly sealed where roofing surfaces meet.
All work was confined to the specified areas and completed using cedar materials consistent with the existing roof.
Result
The completed repairs:
- Restored the full cedar hip at the back of the house with a new, continuous cedar hip installation
- Addressed isolated cedar issues at both the back and front of the house through targeted piece repairs
- Ensured the valley at the back dormer was fully caulked and sealed
This project reflects Dominion Roofing’s ability to perform precise, small-scope cedar roof repairs that focus on clearly defined areas of concern while maintaining the character of the existing roof.
