Service: Flat Roof Installation, Shingle Roofing and Metal Flashing
Location: Scarborough, Ontario
Challenge
A residential property in Scarborough, Ontario, required roofing work at the lower front section of the home, including the transition between the flat roof and adjoining shingled roof areas.
Roof transitions are particularly important because they connect different roofing materials and surfaces. Without proper installation and sealing, these areas can become vulnerable to water infiltration, potentially leading to moisture damage and deterioration of the underlying roof structure.
Properly installed shingles, ridge caps, hip caps and metal flashing all contribute to a durable roofing system that helps protect the home against rain, snow and changing weather conditions.
Solution
Dominion Roofing completed roofing installation and finishing work to improve waterproofing protection at the lower front roof and adjoining shingled sections.
Flat Roof Installation
- Installed a new flat roofing system at the lower front section of the property.
- Completed the installation to provide a protective roofing surface designed to withstand exposure to the elements.
Shingle Transition and Roof Cap Installation
- Installed tie-in shingles where the flat roof meets the adjoining shingled roof, creating a continuous transition between the two roofing areas.
- Installed ridge caps and hip caps to protect roof peaks and angled intersections.
- Completed the shingle installation to help maintain proper water shedding and protect vulnerable roof joints.
Metal Flashing and Caulking
- Installed metal flashing at the required roof connections and transitions to help direct water away from vulnerable areas.
- Applied caulking to seal appropriate joints and connections, providing additional protection against moisture infiltration.
- Integrated the flashing and sealing work with the surrounding roofing materials to support the overall weather resistance of the roof.
Site Cleanup
Following the installation, Dominion Roofing removed all work-related debris and cleaned the surrounding work areas, leaving the property tidy upon completion.
Valley Water Deflector Installation
- Installed custom deflectors at the affected valley areas.
- Positioned the deflectors to slow down the speed of water coming off the roof.
- Redirected the water flow so it could enter the eavestrough more effectively.
- Checked the affected areas to ensure the new deflectors were properly secured and aligned.
Result
The completed roofing project provided the Scarborough property with a newly installed lower front flat roof, properly integrated shingle transitions, ridge and hip caps, and metal flashing.
The combination of roofing materials, flashing and caulking helps protect critical roof connections against water penetration while supporting the durability and performance of the roofing system.
This project demonstrates Dominion Roofing’s experience with residential flat roof installations, shingle roof transitions and metal flashing work in Scarborough, providing homeowners with practical roofing solutions designed for Ontario’s changing weather conditions.
